Mérida, Mexico based band, Efecto, has asked Jeremy to sing on one of their songs.
You might think “that is cool” without really thinking of the two major challenges this brings on.
First, is the distance between Nashville, Tennessee and Mérida, Mexico. With money not exactly growing on trees, travel was out of the question. So we have hurdle number 1 to overcome.
Second, Efecto asked Jeremy (me) to sing his parts in Spanish. While I love the Spanish culture and would love to speak the language…sadly I don’t. So we have hurdle number 2 to overcome.
Overcoming hurdles
The first hurdle was to transfer the files need to record my vocals in Nashville. Ryan Youmans, owner of The Amber Sound worked with Izaak Solis of Efecto to overcome this hurdle. Izaak transfered the recording files to Ryan who then imported them into his system.
After the file import, we did a video call with Izaak. This allowed Izaak to virtually sit next to Ryan in the control room and suggest changes.
Trust me…there were many suggested changes!
A little hard work and ingenuity helped us overcome the second hurdle. Izaak and his brother Dany, who also sings on the track, sent me voice recordings to practice with.
The first recordings were very slow so I could speak along and learn to pronounce each word. The second recording was a little faster and had a click track with it. Ultimately they made me a track that was full speed with music and vocals so I could sing along.
I began working with these recordings in September, 2019. We did not record vocals until February 4th, 2020.

The dream continues
Izaak and I dream of one day having us travel to Mérida to shoot a music video for the song. In order for this to happen we would need several more people to invest in our music creation via Patreon.
